A fun-filled month

Peter celebrated his 75th birthday on June 9th. Julia flew into town for his big day and Quinn finally got to meet her Aunt Julia.

Congratulations to our friends Jackie and Fred who tied the knot on June 12th!

On June 21st we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. Another wonderful time had at the Covington Inn.

Also on June 21st the Catalpas (Heather's favorite tree) bloomed.

Hot sticky weather waranted breaking out the kiddie pool. Quinn enjoyed the water slide.

On June 28th the St. Paul skyline changed yet again. The Xcel smoke stack was imploded. We woke up early to go down to the bluff to watch it all happen from a safe distance.

Timeless Joy

Last week's visit to the "Cottage House" brought a discovery for Heather that just couldn't be passed up. Along with a couple of other toys, she bought a delightful desk-looking thing designed to entertain children of all ages for hours on end. And it has been working. Quinn has spent longer stretches of time with this toy than she has with any other. Here are a couple of examples of how entrancing it can be...

Back for more

In recent months, one or more crafty criminal types have been stealing my (david's) precious free time. This, of course, effects us all in ways such as you not being able to read up on my thoughts and activities in a timely manner.

For example, last Wednesday I had ensured that extra security measures were in place to protect the time I had set aside to attend one of our block club's first big social events, a neighborhood BBQ. Despite receiving threats from meteorologists, the well attended event went on without problems, fun was had by all, and the fruits of camaraderie were thoroughly consumed (as were all the turkey hot dogs I brought).

Today, similar measures are being taken to insure I will again be with the block club for our monthly meeting. Hopefully this pattern of protected free time will set a precedence which will prevent any further would be criminals from victimizing me in the future. And thus, you will again have better access to the ritual documentation one would expect to find here.
