Diastema: A gap between the front teeth

A couple years ago at Quinn's first dental visit her dentist asked us if her upper labial frenulum (the tissue that connects her upper lips to her gums) high attachment runs in the family. Neither of us could think of anyone in the family that has had this. Her dentist advised us that this tissue will need to be cut sometime before her adult teeth come in to prevent the same gap from forming again and to possibly lessen the need for braces.

While in Milwaukee, I came upon a letter written in 1957 from my great grandma Mimi. In the letter I learned that my aunt Karen also had this. I'm glad to finally have an answer!

Morris Alphabet

We've been searching for letters and numbers everywhere.
While in Morris over the weekend, we found several letters.

And we found numbers at daycare.

Seeds

The daycare summary from Monday said this...

"This morning at group time we discussed a revelation that came to Quinn at snack time. We were having bagels with lots of seeds on them. She found a large seed in her bagel and said that she wanted to talk about it during group time. She thought that if she planted the seed she could grow a bagel plant. We discussed this for a while debating on whether or not it would grow into a tree or a flower."

Christmas Comes Early in St. Paul

While driving to the Jimmy Lee Recreation Center this morning, we encountered a road block. There was a large crane in the middle of the road. We decided to investigate. A stately tree was being removed from the front of a house on Third Street. While chatting with neighbors we learned that the tree was selected by the city to be used downtown for Christmas. It's somewhat sad to see the neighborhood lose a full grown tree but we will proudly visit the massive pine this winter in all it's glory.

God save the Queen's publishing companies!

I (David) couldn't wait for the familial library to acquire the last of this trilogy after its American release date in May of 2010. I was left with a desperate cliff hanger in completing the second book. Fortunately the Brits are way ahead of us when it come to publishing popular fiction. So I ordered the import and can expect it in two weeks.

Inspired by the investigative characters in these novels, I couldn't stop digging after the happy discovery that I could get the import. I had to find out more. To my surprise, the author's homeland is even more way ahead than the Brits! The Swedes have a TV mini-series/movie-thing that will be released on DVD (get this...) this month!!! I'm glad I happened upon this series so late in the game. I just hope the DVD has English subtitles.

Here are some previews for those interested.

Halloween

Quinn asked to be a princess this year. So we went with the theme and decided to go as a queen and king. Shortly before Halloween, she changed her mind and wanted to be a ghost. Again she changed her mind and wanted to combine the two and be a ghost princess.
